Current Vacancies

Thank you for your interest in joining our team, below are the current opportunities available at Marwell Wildlife. We update this page regularly so if there are no opportunities listed below, we would recommend checking back again soon.

A Marwell Wildlife application form must be completed to be considered for all vacancies. Please send your completed application form to jobs@marwell.org.uk. Please contact us if you require any reasonable adjustments to assist with your application and please read our dress code policy before applying.

We welcome your application against any of our current vacancies, however, please be aware that our roles are very popular and our HR team is very small so if we haven’t contacted you within 28 days from the closing date your application has unfortunately not been successful on this occasion. Sadly we will also be unable to respond to any speculative enquires and whilst each application will be considered on a case by case basis, Marwell Wildlife’s usual policy is not to re employ former employees.

Successful applicants for vacancies with Marwell Wildlife may be required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as a condition of employment.

Animal Behaviour Work Experience Placement

As an action oriented conservation charity, Marwell Wildlife’s desire is to connect people with nature. Through enthusing people about the wonders of the natural world we’re certain they’ll share our passion to conserve it.

An exciting work experience opportunity has arisen to support Marwell’s Animal Behaviourist with researching, monitoring and assessing animal welfare across our 140 acre zoological park. This work experience opportunity will allow the successful applicant to gain experience in zoo-based research and the scientific assessment and advancement of animal welfare.

Working alongside our Animal Behaviourist as part of our wider Veterinary Services Team your duties will include:

  • Research project design
  • Behavioural data collection via direct observations or via video
  • Mining of existing databases for analysis
  • Behavioural data analysis (including statistical analysis)
  • Maintaining research records
  • Carrying out literature searches and report/journal writing
  • Support use of the Animal Welfare Assessment Grid
  • Organising and leading Journal Club
  • Support with general administration

This placement is suitable for applicants with or working towards an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in zoology, animal behaviour/welfare, biology, or a related discipline. Experience collecting behavioural data would also be advantageous as would basic statistical analysis skills.

The duration of the placement is 9 months or longer, 35 hours per week, starting at the beginning of September 2025.

If you are interested, please send a CV and covering letter to: jobs@marwell.org.uk

Please note work experience placements are unpaid.

Disclaimer: we will be reviewing applications say they come in and we reserve the right to close a vacancy if we receive applications that meet the selection criteria. Once a vacancy has closed, we are unable to consider further applications, so please apply early to avoid disappointment.
