Why we need your help
Grevy’s zebra are one of Africa’s most endangered large mammals, with fewer than 3,000 remaining in the wild.
Their numbers have plummeted by more than 75% since the 1970s due to habitat loss, competition with livestock, hunting, and human-wildlife conflict.
Today, northern Kenya is the last stronghold for this incredible species — but much of the population lives outside protected areas, sharing a harsh and unpredictable environment with pastoralist communities.
Without support, Grevy’s zebra face an uncertain future.

What we’re doing
Marwell Wildlife has worked in northern Kenya since 2003, playing a central role in the national conservation strategy for Grevy’s zebra. Our dedicated team on the ground is:
- Empowering local communities to become stewards of their environment
- Restoring degraded habitats and supporting coexistence between people and wildlife
- Monitoring zebra populations through fieldwork and community-led science
- Reducing conflict through education, innovation and collaborative land use
Our approach is holistic, impactful, and built to last. But we urgently need your help to continue this work.
